To bring the people of Delson together again, P’tit Québec has transformed their church basement into a P’tit lounge

October 30, 2024

In towns and villages across Quebec, church basements have long been where communities come together. They were commonly used for potluck dinners, community meetings, fundraisers, bingo nights, and more. However, small towns now struggle to maintain or repurpose community spaces, leaving residents without adequate places to gather for social events. In 2024, these gathering venues no longer exude the same vibrant energy they once did.

Delson is no exception. The city needed a welcoming space to better serve its community. Delson’s churc has been repurposed into a performance hall upstairs, but it’s basement lacked warmth and appeal. Delson residents deserved a better venue to gather, and P’tit Québec stepped in to answer that call.

For over 60 years, P’tit Québec has been gathering Quebec families around delicious home-cooked meals. Bringing people together is at the heart of the company’s values, and P’tit Québec made it its mission to unite communities across the province, one initiative at a time.

Introducing the P’tit Lounge d’église

P’tit Québec has completely transformed Delson’s church basement into the new P’tit Lounge, providing the town with a flexible, modern community space ready to host events, big and small. Delson citizens can now enjoy a totally revamped lounge featuring custom modular seating, vibrant neon signage, and adaptable lighting. The space is designed to transform for each community event with the addition of a rounded coffee bar and convenient storage solutions for event organizers. Delson’s children will also discover their brand-new kids’ corner with games and activities.

“Since 2021, P’tit Québec has been dedicated to strengthening communities across Quebec by creating spaces where people can come together,” said Vince Vetere, General Manager, Cheese and Tablespreads at Lactalis Canada. “With the launch of the new P’tit Lounge, we’re excited to offer the residents of Delson a welcoming space to gather and build lasting connections. This year marks our biggest community project yet. We’ve contributed $65K to help bring this vision to life, continuing our commitment to making a meaningful difference in communities across the province.”

“I am delighted to see the transformation of our church into a cultural and community space coming to fruition,” noted Mayor Christian Ouellette. “The inauguration of this P’tit Lounge marks an important step in our commitment to creating quality spaces for our citizens.”
